全文 The whole story, with pinyin and English
xīng qī liù wǒ dì yī cì qù shàng shū fǎ kè
On Saturday I went to my first calligraphy class.
zhuō zi shàng fàng zhe máo bǐ mò shuǐ hé bái bái de xuān zhǐ
On the table were a writing brush, ink and very white rice paper.
wǒ ná qǐ máo bǐ zài zhǐ shàng xiě le yí gè dà zì
I picked up the brush and wrote the character 大 on the paper.
kě shì wǒ de shǒu yì zhí zài dǒu xiě chū lái de zì wāi wāi niǔ niǔ de
But my hand kept shaking, and the character came out all crooked and wobbly.
Wáng lǎo shī zǒu guò lái wò zhe wǒ de shǒu jiāo wǒ màn màn de xiě
Teacher Wang came over, held my hand and taught me to write slowly.
lǎo shī shuō xiě máo bǐ zì yào zuò zhí xīn yào jìng
The teacher said, “When you write with a brush, sit up straight and keep your mind calm.”
wǒ yòu xiě le rén zì hé tiān zì zhè cì xiě de zhěng zhěng qí qí
I wrote the characters 人 and 天 too, and this time they were neat and tidy.
Wáng lǎo shī diǎn dian tóu shuō wǒ jìn bù le wǒ xīn lǐ gāo xìng jí le
Teacher Wang nodded and said I had improved. I was so happy inside.
