jiā míng jīn tiān shì zhōng qiū jié wǒ men dài dēng long qù lóu xià wán ba

Mum: Jiaming, it's the Mid-Autumn Festival today. Let's take our lanterns downstairs to play.

hǎo wǒ kě yǐ yòng nà ge diǎn là zhú de dēng long ma

Jiaming: Great! Can I use that lantern with a candle in it?

là zhú hěn wēi xiǎn nǐ yòng diàn dēng long ba là zhú yào dà rén lái diǎn

Mum: Candles are dangerous. Use the battery lantern. Only grown-ups light candles.

hǎo de diàn dēng long yě huì fā guāng hái huì chàng gē ne

Jiaming: OK. The battery lantern lights up too, and it even sings!

jiā míng lái chī yuè bǐng zhè ge shì lián róng de lǐ miàn yǒu dàn huáng

Grandma: Jiaming, come and have some mooncake. This one is lotus paste with an egg yolk inside.

wài pó yuè bǐng zhè me dà wǒ yí gè rén chī bu wán

Jiaming: Grandma, the mooncake is so big. I can't finish it on my own.

wǒ men bǎ yuè bǐng qiē chéng sān kuài yì rén yí kuài dà jiā fēn zhe chī

Grandma: Let's cut the mooncake into three pieces, one each, and share it.

wài pó nǐ xiān chī wā dàn huáng xián xián de zhēn hǎo chī

Jiaming: Grandma, you eat first. Wow, the egg yolk is nice and salty. It's really yummy!

jiā míng nǐ kàn tiān shang jīn wǎn de yuè liang yòu dà yòu yuán

Mum: Jiaming, look up at the sky. Tonight's moon is big and round.

wài pó yuè liang shang zhēn de zhù zhe cháng é ma

Jiaming: Grandma, does Chang'e really live on the moon?

nà shì yí gè gǔ lǎo de gù shi cháng é hé xiǎo bái tù zhù zài yuè liang shang

Grandma: That's a very old story. Chang'e and a little white rabbit live on the moon.

wǒ yào duì yuè liang shuō cháng é zhōng qiū jié kuài lè

Jiaming: I'm going to say to the moon: Happy Mid-Autumn Festival, Chang'e!
