Sentence Builder – Grammar Practice You Can Tap

Put word tiles in order, add the capital letters and the full stop, tap every noun or verb in a sentence, and choose the right word to fill the gap. Primary 1 to Primary 6, with the rule explained after every mistake.

Grammar sticks when children use it, not when they copy rules. Here they build real sentences, decide which words need capital letters, hunt for the nouns and verbs in a sentence, and choose between “was” and “were” or “who” and “which” in sentences like the ones in their school papers. Choose your child’s year and an activity to start.

  1. Pick the school year and an activity, then the number of questions, and press Start.
  2. Answer and press Check. A wrong answer shows the correct sentence and the rule behind it.

Common Grammar Mistakes in Primary School

The same few mistakes turn up again and again in school compositions and grammar papers. Each one has a quick check your child can learn.

Every one of these comes up in the activities above, and a wrong answer shows the rule straight away, so your child meets the check at the moment it matters.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a noun, a verb and an adjective?

A noun names a person, place, animal or thing (Mei, school, cat, ball). A verb is an action or doing word (run, eat, jumped). An adjective describes a noun (big, red, happy). In “The small dog barked”, dog is the noun, barked is the verb and small is the adjective.

When do we use capital letters?

Use a capital letter at the start of every sentence, for the word I, and for the names of people, places, days, months, festivals and organisations, such as Arjun, Singapore, Monday, June, Deepavali and the National Library.

Which level should my child choose?

Start at your child’s school year. P1 works on short sentences, nouns and verbs, a and an, and is and are. Each level adds more: adjectives and past tense in P2, pronouns and adverbs in P3, prepositions and conjunctions from P4, and PSLE-style grammar such as subject-verb agreement, relative pronouns and question tags in P5 and P6.

Is the sentence builder free?

Yes. There is no account, no download and no limit on rounds. It works in any browser on a phone, tablet or computer, and nothing about your child’s answers is sent to us.
