App Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the 华文小书包 Chinese for Kids app ("the app"), made by Generate Worksheet (generateworksheet.com, "we"), handles information. The app is for children learning Chinese and their families: picture stories read aloud, everyday conversations to listen to and role-play, and 听写 (spelling) practice. The website has its own privacy policy.
In short: there are no accounts and no sign-in. We do not collect your child's name, email, photos, voice or anything else that identifies them. Reading records and saved spelling lists stay on the device. Photos for 听写 are read on the device and never uploaded. The app shows child-safe, non-personalised ads from Google AdMob.
1. What stays on the device
The app keeps a few things in its own storage on the device, so a child can pick up where they left off. None of it is sent to us or anyone else:
- which stories and conversations have been read, and practice scores
- settings such as reading speed and whether pinyin or English is shown
- spelling lists you save in 听写
You can clear the reading record with the Clear button on the story or conversation list. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its data in Android Settings, deletes all of it.
2. Camera and photos (听写 only)
When you choose to photograph a spelling list in 听写, the app asks Android for the camera or a photo. The picture is read by a text reader that runs inside the app, on the device, to find the words. The photo is not uploaded, not stored by us and not shared. The app never uses the camera on its own.
3. Speech and sound
Stories and conversations play recordings that come with the app. Single words and 听写 words are read aloud by the device's own text-to-speech engine (for example, Samsung or Google text-to-speech), which works on the device. The app does not use the microphone and does not record anyone's voice.
4. Advertising
The app is free and shows ads from Google AdMob, which is certified for Google Play's Families program. We set every ad request to be:
- child-directed (treated under COPPA and similar laws) and for users under the age of consent
- non-personalised: no ads based on a child's interests or past activity
- limited to content rated General (suitable for all ages)
Ads appear only on the list screens and, at most once every few minutes, after a story or practice is finished, never while a child is reading or practising. To deliver ads, count them and prevent fraud, Google may receive limited technical information such as the device's IP address (which gives an approximate location), app and device information and ad interactions. 5. Internet and links
Stories, conversations and 听写 work offline. The app uses the internet only to load ads. Links to pages on generateworksheet.com (such as this one) open in the device's web browser, where the website's own privacy policy applies.
6. No analytics, no selling
The app has no analytics or tracking of its own. We do not sell, rent or share any information about you or your child.
7. Children's privacy
The app is designed for children and follows Google Play's Families policy. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child's personal information has reached us, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes to this policy
If the app starts handling information differently, we will update this page and its date before the change reaches the app.
